Los Angeles, CA (Feb. 10, 2012) - After recently performing alongside American Idol's Fantasia and many others at the 13th Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration in Indianapolis, social activist and four-time GMA Female Vocalist of the Year, Natalie Grant celebrates the Grammy's this week in honor of her first nomination for her performance of "Alive" off the critically acclaimed album The Story.
Grant will perform the Grammy nominated single at the 20th Annual MovieGuide Awards tonight, Friday, Feb. 10, 2012. "Alive" is written and produced by husband and Grammy Nominated & Dove Award winning producer, Bernie Herms. Together, the married duo will present the award for 'The Grace Award for Movies. '
While in Los Angeles, Grant will also make several appearances around the city before making her debut at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center. Recently profiled on http://www.grammy.com/blogs/first-time-grammy-nominee-natalie-grant, Grant refers to the awards as an, "extra special and kind of family affair."
As she walks down the red carpet on Sunday afternoon, Grant will be wearing a one-of-a-kind gown made by survivors of human trafficking designed by Abi Ferrin. Ferrin is the founder of 'The Freedom Project' that helps to give disenfranchised women a fresh new start in life.
"I've committed my life and platform to the fight against human trafficking, and Abi has done the same," says Grant. "The dress I will be wearing will help restore dignity and provide a fair wage for a woman rescued from slavery and abuse. I will definitely wear it with pride."
Following the Grammy Awards, on February 26, Grant will set off to Orlando, FL where she will run in the Disney Princess ½ Marathon to help raise funds for Abolition International. Abolition International, formerly known as The Home Foundation, is an organization to raise awareness of international human trafficking. A focal point of her ministry platform, Grant is committed to educating audiences on the plight of children around the world who have been forced into the sex trade. Abolition International sponsors an internship program for college students and raises money and support for various human trafficking relief efforts (www.abolitioninternational.org).
